The new advertisement of the Sky+HD box has been banned by the Advertisement Standards Authority, as it has been reported misleading by the viewers. The advertisement campaign is relating to free Sky box installation with the sign up deal. Where as the advertisement portray something very different to the viewers. Several customers when enquired about the offer, they were informed that Sky is offering two different offers one is for the new customers and other is for the new subscribers.
The advertisement was reported misleading because it did not clearly indicate that Sky is offering two different offers. The free installation of the Sky+HD box is only applicable for the new subscribers, where as the existing customers had to opt for the Sky Multiroom service to get the free installation offer. The ASA has looked into the details of the advertisement and has finally come to the conclusion of banning it.
Sky has to face a lot of criticism with this event, as it has left a mark on its hard earned reputation in the market. Sky being one of the major service providers of digital TV has a lot to offer to its customers. The Sky TV box has altogether changed the way we view TV.
